The International Network of Privacy Law Professionals (INPLP) is an international non-profit network of qualified professionals providing expert advice on legal and compliance issues relating to personal data and associated matters, with 48 members representing 35 countries.
As a member of INPLP, 99 Avocats associés provides legal and practical information on personal data protection, including the impacts of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the Principality of Monaco.
Among its activities, INPLP offers a database of fines imposed by EU data protection authorities for violations of the GDPR. In the interests of transparency, the aim is to give an overview of the evolution of these fines, as well as their grounds and amounts, and also to reveal the differences between countries.
As a reminder, in the case of Monaco, legislative work on the reform of Law No. 1.165 on the protection of personal information of 23 December 1993, as consolidated, began in 2018, with the establishment of an ad hoc working group between the Monegasque Personal Data Protection Authority (CCIN) and the State Services.
It has already been announced that the future draft law will be inspired by the Protocol amending the Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data (revised Convention 108), and the GDPR.
Given the geographical location of the Principality, the GDPR will be a reference model, with a view to obtaining an adequacy decision from the European Commission, in order to facilitate the very frequent cross-border transfers of personal data to or from the European Union.
